Kutztown, PA – (October 21, 2009) Last week, with the support of Kutztown-based Dellicker Strategies, Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit hosted a presentation on cyberbullying at Keith Valley Middle School in Horsham, PA.
Dellicker Strategies was integral in the implementation of the wide area network (WAN) that enabled the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to stream this live presentation to other Montgomery County schools. The presentation “Sticks and Stones: Cyberbullying” was seen by about 600 students at Keith Valley Middle School, and 2000 additional students participated in the presentation remotely from 22 different sites in Montgomery County.
A WAN is a telecommunications system for sharing information and makes moving voice, video and data among schools faster, easier and more efficient. These networks provide existing services more cost-effectively and provide new services otherwise not available.
Dellicker Strategies has worked on similar programs in counties across Pennsylvania with the ultimate goal of networking every school district in the Commonwealth so that information, curriculum and presentations may be easily shared between schools.
“I am pleased that this event was an enormous success and that more than 2600 students were able to participate in this important presentation,” said Christine Smith, Solutions Manager for Dellicker Strategies, LLC. “Dellicker Strategies is committed to designing networks across Pennsylvania that connect school districts to expand learning opportunities for our students, and this event illustrated the tremendous impact this technology can have. By grouping schools together, not only are the educational opportunities endless, but schools are able to obtain these services at lower costs using their bargaining power.”
